With the summer solstice fast approaching, there are two big things on many of our minds; graduation, and getting the heck out of town! I could wax poetic about how a graduation is both the end and the beginning of a journey, and therefore graduation is just another form of travel, and all that jazz. Instead, I’ll keep it in the realm of the practical and highlight some awesome Library resources to support recent grads, their families, and those of us lucky (or unlucky?) enough to be cruising the country sometime in the near future. Just kidding! Here’s a haiku:

Summer solstice nears
Kids in cars can be so loud
Hoopla has comics!

Bet you didn’t know that :) Seriously though; in addition to digital comics, the Library also offers free access to digital magazines, e-books, e-audiobooks, and downloadable movies and music for all your road trip needs. Most of our e-magazines are now on RB Digital, but we kept our original e-magazine platform, Flipster, so we could retain access to Consumer Reports and a couple of other popular titles not offered by RB. And, it just so happens that the latest edition of Consumer Reports is all about road trips! They rate vehicles, snacks, and more, and also offer tips for packing, emergency preparedness, and saving money on gas. We also have the physical version of this magazine, but it won’t be available for checkout until next month, whereas the digital copy is available on Flipster NOW. Pretty convenient, huh?

If you’re not road tripping this season, but instead heading out on that “other journey” of post-graduation life and figuring out how to get a job, pay taxes, and/or live at your parents’ house for another 6 years, we’ve got you covered there, too! Search “college graduates,” “life skills,” “adulthood,” or “adulting” (yes, that’s a thing) and you can find titles like these:

adulting books

… and much, much more! So what are you waiting for? Get to the Library, and then get out town!
