Everyone is invited to join us for a day of free workshops and author readings for both seasoned and beginning writers. The public is also invited to listen to authors read excerpts from their works and receive a signed copy. Presented by the Sandpoint Chapter of the Idaho Writer's League, the East Bonner County Library and Friends of the Library

You are challenged to write an engaging first sentence for your story, something that makes the reader want more. Write for 5 minutes and share what you have written.
9:15 – 10:30 am Author Readings

Local authors are invited to read a 7-minute excerpt from their published works. The audience will select their first, second and third favorite and gift certificates will be awarded.

NaNoWriMo (National Novel Writing Month) Kickoff

Learn about NaNoWriMo, a commitment to write a 50,000-word draft novel in the month of November with the help and support of your fellow writers and your local Library. Find out about online resources, local write-ins, and other opportunities.
1:00 – 2:00 pm Flash Fiction Write Exercise
Mary Haley, local author, IWL-Sandpoint Chapter
Learn how to write a beginning, middle and a dynamite end in 1000 words or less. Mary is a published author of The Great Potato Murder and won multiple times in the Flash Fiction category of the Idaho Writer’s League statewide contest.
2:15 – 2:30 p.m. Break
2:15 – 3:00 p.m. 5-Minute Write Exercise and Sharing
Tom Reppert, local author, IWL-Sandpoint Chapter
From a prompt, write for five minutes, then read your work aloud to the others. Participants will select their first, second and third favorite and prizes will be awarded.
